SENIOR CLASS DAY ATTIRE

Class Day is slated for Friday, May 9th, at 9:00 a.m. in the RHS Auditorium. Please keep the following dress code in mind as you begin shopping for Class Day attire.

Young ladies will need a black dress or pant suit with comfortable black shoes. Jumpsuits ARE NOT ALLOWED. Dresses can be sleeveless or short sleeves but NO HALTERS. The dresses should also be an appropriate length (fingertip rule).  

 

Young men should wear black slacks, a white button-down, tie, socks, and shoes.

 

Flip flops are NOT ALLOWED for young ladies or young men.

 

DELTA TECHNICAL COLLEGE CAREER NIGHT

DELTA TECHNICAL COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL WELDING COMPETITION 

Are you a junior or senior? Would you like an opportunity to earn a $500 scholarship? Are you interested in a career in welding? If any of the answers to those questions are yes, this event on February 27th may be for you. Click here to learn more. 

 

AP COMPUTER SCIENCE PRINCIPLES CAMP

FAFSA DAY APPOINTMENTS 

Ridgeland High School is excited to partner with Get2College to host a FAFSA Day on February 4, 2025.  During this FAFSA Day event, participants will leave the appointment with FAFSA completion and MAAPP completion.

OTMS TOUR AND PARENT NIGHT

Please mark your calendars! On Tuesday, January 21st, we will welcome OTMS 8th graders for an informational session and tour. On that same day, at 6:00 p.m., we will welcome OTMS 8th grade parents to RHS for a parent orientation session. We can't wait to see you on January 21st!

 

CLASS DAY

Senior Class Day was initially scheduled for Thursday, May 8th, at 9:00 a.m. There has been a change of plans, and the date has been changed to Friday, May 9th, at 9:00 a.m. Parents, please make a note of this change on documents that you received during Senior Parent Night on August 19, 2024. 

 

2025 ACT REGISTRATION

The 2025 spring and summer ACT test dates registration opens December 5, 2024. Students can register at www.act.org. 

Additionally, students taking the February ACT can receive a copy of their questions, answes, and the correct answers after they test! Research shows it's one of the best tools for improving scores with a retest. Simply use promo code FEBTIR for a discount. 

 

FAFSA DAY at RHS

Save the date! FAFSA Day has been scheduled for Tuesday, February 4, 2025. Appointments will be available for parents to sign up closer to the time of the event. Meanwhile, parents can visit https://get2college.org/the-fafsa-steps/ to gather the documents needed for their FAFSA appointment.  

 

Pathway to Professionalism

The Junior Auxiliary Provisional Class presents Pathway to Professionalism. This workshop is to prepare juniors and seniors for interviews and beyond. If interested, click here

 

Teen Health Summit

The Institute for the Advancement of Minority Health will host the 2024 Teen Health Summit on December 7, 2024 from 9:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. For more information and for registration information click here

 

Virtual ACT Workshop

The Epsilon Kappa Kappa Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. will host a free virtual ACT Workshop on Saturday, October 12th from 9am-1pm. Please click here to register. 

 

College Application Week and Senior Meetings

October 15-18 is College Application Week at RHS! ALL SENIORS must sign up for a senior meeting with their counselor through their Counseling Course in Canvas. Step-by-step instructions for setting up an appointment were posted in the announcements section on September 24th. Admissions counselors/recruiters from various colleges/universities will also be here that week. The schedule is as follows:

  • October 15 - JSU
  • October 16 - Hinds and USM
  • October 17 - Holmes and Tougaloo
  • October 18 - MSU and Ole Miss

 

Senior Portraits - Make Up Day

Any senior who hasn't taken their senior photos will have an opportunity to do so at RHS on November 11th. Please click here to access the link to sign up for an appointment. 

 

Delta GEMS

The Delta GEMS and ACADEMY program offers a road map for college and career planning through activities that provide opportunities for self-reflection and individual growth. Delta GEMS, like Delta Academy, is implemented by chapters of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. Delta GEMS participants have the opportunity to define and“Discover their Individual Brilliance.”

 
The purpose of these programs is the following:
  1. To instill the need to excel academically;
  2. To provide tools that enable girls to sharpen and enhance their skills to achieve high levels of academic success;
  3. To assist girls in proper goal setting and planning for their futures in high school and beyond; and
  4. To create compassionate, caring, and community-minded young women by actively involving them in service learning and community service opportunities.

Senior Letterman Jackets

On September 27th, students will receive information regarding letterman jackets. For students who are interested in ordering a jacket, they will be sized and will need to return their deposit on October 4th during lunchtime. 

 

Tougaloo College Tour

On November 12, 2024, SENIORS who did not sign up to go to Mississippi College on October 29, 2024, will be eligible to take a trip to Tougaloo College to tour the campus, meet with an admissions counselor and learn more about what Tougaloo College has to offer. Students who are interested in going on the trip should sign up in the Student Services office beginning Wednesday, September 18th. Students should also pick up a permission form and return to Student Services by October 23rd

Cap and Gown Presentation

Herff Jones will make a presentation to seniors about caps and gowns and other senior paraphernalia on September 18th. They will return on September 26th to pick up all orders. Deposits will also be due at that time. 

 

College Fair

The Junior-Senior College Fair will take place in the RHS Gym on Thursday, September 5th, from 9:30-12:00. 

 

EmpowHer Girls Conference

The Ebony Pearls Foundation, Inc. will host the EmpowHer Conference for young ladies enrolled in grades 7th-12th on Saturday, September 21st, from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Registration is required to attend. Click here to register. 

 

Mississippi College Tour

On October 29, 2024, SENIORS will have an opportunity to take a trip to Mississippi College to tour the campus, meet with an admissions counselor and learn more about what Mississippi College has to offer. Students who are interested in going on the trip should sign up in the Student Services office and pick up a permission form by September 20, 2024

 

Hinds Community College

Any JUNIOR who is interested in learning more information about Hinds Community College should stop by the Student Services office to speak with their counselor by September 12, 2024

 

Senior Parent Meeting

On Monday, August 19th, RHS Counselors hosted the annual Senior Parent Meeting.  Important information was shared regarding diploma endorsements, FAFSA, transcripts, college visits, graduation, and more.  If you were unable to attend,  please ask your scholar to pick up your parent packet from their counselor in Student Services.

 

ACT Waivers

All juniors and seniors who have a free or reduced lunch status are eligible to receive a total of 4 ACT waivers. Students should see their counselor for more details.
