Fennell to Serve as Principal of Ridgeland High School
Madison County Schools proudly announces the selection of Keith A. Fennell as the next principal of Ridgeland High School. Mr. Fennell brings twenty-two years of experience in education to the position, eighteen of which have been in administration.“I am honored to have this opportunity to serve Madison County and the Ridgeland community as Principal of Ridgeland High School,” says Fennell, who served as principal of Starkville High School from 2009-2014 prior to joining Jackson State University. But his love of secondary education led him back to the high school environment, serving as assistant principal at Northwest Rankin High School. He plans to take the lead at Ridgeland High School beginning on June 1.
“I intend to provide my capabilities and my commitment to put in the time and energy necessary to ensure that Ridgeland High School is a strong part of the district’s ‘Mark of Excellence,’” says Fennell.
“We are absolutely delighted that Mr. Fennell is joining the team at Madison County Schools,” says Madison County Schools Superintendent Kimber Halliburton, “His proven track record of leadership and developing the potential of students and faculty will be a great asset to Ridgeland. We look forward to watching Ridgeland High School continue to build on its success under the leadership of Mr. Fennell.”
Ridgeland High School, home to 920 students, boasts a robust academic curriculum including advanced and accelerated courses, as well as AP and dual credit courses. Ridgeland High School’s state-of-the-art facilities include an auditorium, gymnasium, athletic complex and specialized spaces for the Culinary Arts Academy and Engineering Academy. Students participate in numerous extracurricular opportunities, including the award-winning band, choir, speech and debate, Future Business Leaders of America, cheer, dance, and numerous athletic offerings. Students also have the opportunity to participate in Air Force ROTC program and our world-class VEX robotics teams.
“Students need to be happy, healthy and safe to develop a sense of pride that will motivate them to focus on academics and inspire them perform at their highest potential,” says Fennell. “Our most important responsibility is to protect and advocate for our students. I’m looking forward to working collaboratively with the faculty, staff, and students of RHS and the Ridgeland community,” says Fennell.
