Lollar Named Principal of Madison Career and Technical Center
Madison County Schools is pleased to announce Dr. Nason Lollar as principal of the Madison Career and Technical Center (MCTC). Dr. Lollar brings to this lead administrator position more than two decades of experience in education as a classroom teacher, coach, and administrator.
“This role as principal at the Madison Career and Technical Center presents another wonderful opportunity for me and my family in Madison County," says Dr. Lollar, who is a familiar face in the district, having served as an assistant principal at Germantown High School since 2014. Hammett Named Principal of Madison Avenue Upper Elementary School
Madison County Schools is pleased to announce Brittany Hammett as principal of Madison Avenue Upper Elementary School (MAUE). Mrs. Hammett has worked in education since 2007, serving most recently as assistant principal at Madison Middle School. Taking the lead role at MAUE is a homecoming for Mrs. Hammett who served earlier in her career as the lead fifth grade teacher at the school.

Young Named Principal of the Academic Options Center
Madison County Schools is pleased to announce Jason Young as principal of the Academic Options Center (AOC). Mr. Young comes to Madison County Schools from Hazlehurst City Schools, where he has served as principal of Hazlehurst High School. In 2020-2021 he was recognized as the district’s administrator of the year.
“I am excited and humbled to have the opportunity to serve Madison County Schools as principal of the Academic Options Center. I plan to continue building upon the foundation laid before me, ensuring the needs of every student are met, and being a strong advocate for what is best for children,” says Young. Cockrell Named Principal of Mannsdale Upper Elementary School
Madison County Schools is pleased to announce Dr. Nicole Cockrell as principal of Mannsdale Upper Elementary School
(MUES), which serves grades three through five in the western Germantown Zone. Cockrell is a familiar face to the Mannsdale Upper Elementary family, having served for the last six years at the campus as assistant principal and the previous three years as the school’s literacy specialist.
“It is with such joy that I have the privilege to continue sharing in the learning and growth of the students, teachers, families, and community of MUES that I love and appreciate,” says Dr. Cockrell. “Life is about accepting the challenges along the way, choosing to keep moving forward, and savoring the journey. I gratefully accept the challenge of continuing to move the mark at Mannsdale Upper, the first school in the state to be named a School of Innovation, and I will enjoy this journey with the people and community I have grown so fond of over the years,” says Cockrell. Zumbro Named Principal of Germantown High School
Madison County Schools is pleased to announce Mr. Cody Zumbro as principal of Germantown High School. Mr. Zumbro’s distinguished career in education has spanned more than two decades, including lead administrator experience at the Madison Career and Technical Center and Ridgeland High School.

Houghton Named Principal of Madison Crossing Elementary
Madison County, Miss.: Madison County Schools is pleased to announce Dr. Debra Houghton as the next principal of Madison Crossing Elementary. Dr. Houghton has spent a decade of her distinguished career in education in Madison County Schools. She began her career in education in 2002, serving as a teacher, assistant principal, and most recently as lead principal of Mannsdale Upper Elementary School since its opening. Mannsdale Upper Elementary is an A-rated school serving grades three through five in the Maverick Zone of the district. Madison Crossing Elementary, also A-rated in 2022, serves students in kindergarten through fifth grade in the Maverick Zone. Read more about Dr. Houghton.
Johnson Named Principal of Luther Branson Elementary School
Madison County Schools is proud to announce Mrs. Ranata Johnson as the next principal of Luther Branson Elementary School. This appointment is a homecoming for Mrs. Johnson, who during her career as an educator has served fifteen years in Madison County Schools, seven of which as instructional specialist at Luther Branson. Most recently she has worked as the English/language arts curriculum lead for Jackson Public Schools and a humanities implementation leader for curriculum developer Great Minds. Brewer Named Principal of Rosa School School
Madison County Schools is proud to announce Dr. Kim Brewer as the next principal of Rosa Scott School. During her 26-year career in education, Dr. Brewer has served 12 years at the elementary school level and 14 years at the secondary level. In Madison County Schools she has worked as a teacher as well as the high school intervention strategist serving all MCS high schools including Rosa Scott. Dr. Brewer has spent the past 11 years as the lead principal of Madison Avenue Upper Elementary, which has earned an A rating on state accountability testing throughout her tenure.
