  • Message from Dr. Ronnie McGehee, Superintendent

    Dear Parents,

     

    I am reaching out to you to affirm our commitment to the safety of our students, in light of the tragic school shooting in Florida last week.  All Madison County School locations are prepared with crisis plans created and maintained in consultation with local, state and federal law enforcement. We have spent time over the past week actively reviewing these plans and meeting with teachers and administrators to evaluate our current strategies and to discuss measures to address the security of our campuses and the safety of our staff and students in the future.

     

    We believe that building relationships with our students is vital in preventing violence. A critical aspect of student safety is empowering students themselves to report any concerns or suspicions to adults knowing that they will be heard, treated confidentially, and thoroughly investigated.  In addition, we encourage parents to contact their principal or other school administrator when they see or hear potential threats.  Social media posts and other statements are taken seriously, and all students must understand that threatening language and inappropriate behavior of any kind will not be tolerated in Madison County Schools.  Please continue to partner with us by talking to your children about making good decisions daily concerning what they do and say, both in person and online.  Remind your children that MCS monitors computer site visits and key phrases that may raise concerns. Consequences for threatening posts or behavior will result in school discipline and will be referred to local law enforcement. 

     

    I also want to emphasize that your most reliable sources for accurate information concerning any situation in Madison County Schools are our district website, Facebook page, and Twitter.  You can also download our MCS App on your phone to receive important notifications.  If a situation arises that requires instant notification, we will place an “all call” to inform you of the circumstances.

     

    Madison County Schools has been and will continue to be proactive with respect to student safety as we strive to create a secure educational environment for all.

    Reporting Lost or Stolen Laptop
     
    Students will be allowed to take their device home including the holidays.  Please be aware that we will not be providing technical assistance during this time.  If your laptop is lost or stolen, you will need to contact the police immediately and fill out the Theft Form to report it to school administration.  Parent/guardian will be responsible for full replacement cost of laptop if not reported to MCS personnel within calendar 3 days of missing the device.
