About Mrs. McLelland
Welcome to my Teacher/Classroom Page! I am excited about the new school year and can't wait to meet my new students! This is my 24th year to teach at Madison Middle, and I am proud to say that all 3 of my own children are products of Madison County Schools. I have been married to my husband Ralph for 41 years and our nest is empty, but we do have 2 precious grandchildren, Liam and Mae Frances. We are blessed indeed! I am very proud of our daughter who is the Librarian here at MMS! (Mrs. Doyle) She and her husband Stuart reside in Madison and are the parents of our grandchildren. We also have two sons, Alex and Adam, who are both living and working in Austin. We are so proud of them all! I received my undergraduate degree from Mississippi University for Women and completed my graduate studies at Belhaven University. I am Nationally Board Certified, and, in addition to teaching, I currently serve as church pianist at Tinsley Baptist Church in Yazoo County. My husband and I live in Trace Vineyard Subdivision and love living and being a part of Madison!
Here is some general information you might need to know about ART and my class:
E-mail is the best form of communication with me. I am quick to reply to e-mails, but phone calls may take more time. I love to be in touch with parents, so feel free to communicate with me as needed! Also, please make sure you have given MMS your current e-mail address so we can find it on the SAM parent information page. It makes it so much easier when we try to get in touch with you. Thanks!
ALL ART STUDENTS NEED TO PAY A $20 ART FEE DURING THE FIRST WEEK OF SCHOOL. THIS IS TO PAY FOR ART MATERIALS YOUR CHILD WILL NEED AND USE THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. Without this fee, we would not be able to do some of the many hands-on and creative activities we currently enjoy in Art Foundations. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR SENDING THIS WITH YOUR CHILD AT THE BEGINNING OF SCHOOL! The Fee is payable through schoolbucks.com. No cash or checks are accepted at this time.
HELPFUL HINT: I will send an important parent's letter home with your child on the first day of class. You may keep the top part of the letter, but those students who show the letter to their parents and have the bottom portion completed and returned by the next class will receive a free 100 daily grade in the gradebook! The bottom portion of the letter should be completed and signed by a parent. I tell the students about the free 100 every year, but in all the busyness of the first day some forget. Here is an extra heads up for both parents and students!
IMPORTANT: There is NO DOWN TIME in art; students work at their own pace, and as one project is completed there is another to begin. I encourage students to work consistently and manage their time wisely as we work through the Elements of Art (first semester) and the Principles of Design (second semester). I only ask that students do their best and have an "I'll Try" attitude. I know they can do it!
MORE DETAILED INFORMATION ABOUT WHAT IS CURRENTLY HAPPENING IN ART WILL BE AVAILABLE ON MY CANVAS PAGE. I LOOK FORWARD TO MEETING AND GETTING TO KNOW YOUR CHILDREN. PLEASE E-MAIL ME IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS.
WELCOME TO MMS AND ART! IT'S A GREAT DAY TO BE A JAG!
