    About the Teacher

    My name is Lela Hester.  This is my 29th year in education. I was a classroom teacher for 27 years and am excited to serve East Flora as a Literacy Specialist for grades K - 2 for the second year.  I am originally from Carthage, MS.  I received my Bachelor and Masters Degrees from Mississippi State University.  I became a National Board Certified Teacher in 2002.  My husband, Robert, and I  have two wonderful  children, Carter (16), who is an 11th grader at Germantown High School and Mary Ella (13), who is an eighth grader at Germantown Middle this year.  I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.  I love college football and tailgating at Mississippi State games!  My favorite thing to do is cheer on Carter at his baseball games and Mary Ella at her soccer games and dance!
