    Peyton Sills graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2023 with a Bachelor of Music Education. At Southern Miss, he was a member of the University of Southern Mississippi Wind Ensemble and the Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble.  

    In 2019 he was the winner of “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band’s concerto competition in Washington D.C.  He also won first prize in the Leonard Falcone International Euphonium and Tuba Festival in Blue Lake, Michigan.  In 2022, he was the University of Southern Mississippi Symphony Orchestra concerto competition winner and was featured as a guest soloist.  He was also recognized by the USM School of Music Faculty as a Theodore Presser Scholar, an award that recognizes the student with the highest GPA, scholastic achievement, and musical accomplishment within the School of Music at Southern Miss.  Sills is a proponent of new music for tuba and euphonium and is responsible for several published commissions and world premieres of solo and chamber works for both instruments.

    Sills regularly teaches private lessons to low brass students across the central Mississippi area.  Prior to graduation in May of 2023, he student-taught at Northwest Rankin Middle and High School.  He began his teaching career in Forsyth County Schools (Cumming, Georgia) and is in his first year as Assistant Band Director at Madison Central High School (Mississippi).  In addition, Sills is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Music Education at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga.  His professional affiliations include the International Tuba and Euphonium Association, the National Association for Music Education, and the National Band Association.
