Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year!
I want to share a little about myself. This is my 13th year at Madison Central! Before coming to Madison Central I worked with the Mississippi Department of Education. I have taught in 2 other school districts in Mississippi---Clarke and Lowndes. I earned my Bachelor's degree at Ole Miss and my Masters at Mississippi University for Women. I grew up in a small town in Northeast Mississippi, Baldwyn and have lived in Mississippi my whole life.
I am excited to work with you and your student this year! I enjoy teaching and students. Please make sure your contact infomation in Active Parent/student is updated so we have the best contact info for you. Email is the best way to contact me. You may email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or you may access my teacher page at http://mcjags.com.
You may sign up to become an observer in your student's Canvas course. The instructions for signing up are on my teacher page. The grade you see in CANVAS will not reflect all the grades your student earns. Students will earn project, activity grades, etc in addition to the CAnvas grades. I also encourage you to check Active Parent/Active Student frequently. The grade you see there will reflect all grades earned. The District has set a uniform grading policy for the schools. The percentages are 66% for tests, major projects, papers nad 34% for daily work class work, homework and quizzes.
I expect everyone in my class to be kind to one another. I expect us to treat others as we want to be treated. Again, I look forward to working with you and your students to make this a successful school year.
