Welcome to Art I/II!
My name is Mrs. Crotty, and I am thankful to be at GHS to begin my 25th year teaching Art. My number one goal is that you leave art class with confidence to use your creative side in all parts of your life.
A Jackson/Madison native, I grew up loving to be outside, making art with mud, leaves, and sand. I found my energy and creativity while fishing, walking in the woods, or climbing trees! I still love to be outdoors, but now for a long walk, reading a good book, finger painting on large paper with gouache, or visiting with my family. My husband, Greg, and I have two children: Gus (20), and Jennifer (18)…and two pets; our dog, Hazel, and cat, Sparkitty.
For any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me by email at: jud112@madison-schools.com
** ART FEE: $25.00 to be paid to "Art I Class fee"- Crotty on MySchoolBucks
In Art I/II, you will be given the opportunity to experiment with a variety of materials and techniques, while also learning the basics about Art Appreciation and Art History and how these all work together in our everyday world. We will also discuss opportunities for jobs and college scholarships dealing with the arts.
Process:
Each week will consist of the following: planning/research, production, in-progress critiques, revisions, completion, and a final critique. You will be graded on Effort, not Ability.
Grading:
Projects: 66%
Classroom Participation: 34% (Did you follow classroom policies?)
Classroom Policies:
1. All backpacks will be placed in assigned spots when entering the classroom.
2. Cell Phones, Computers, Headphones, Earbuds, etc, will remain in backpacks, NOT on your person. (should a cell phone be seen, it will be taken to the office for parental pick-up after school)
3. No Food visible in the classroom (you may keep it in your backpack)
4. No Drinks on or near Art Tables (you may keep your drink next to or in your backpack and take breaks for sips at any time)
5. Set-up and Clean-up after yourself
6. Touching or marking on another person's artwork will result in an automatic 0 for your Project and Classroom participation grades for that week
