  • Mrs. Nash

Hi! My name is Mrs. Nash, and I am the 4th-5th Grade Pathways teacher. I am so excited to have another fabulous year in Pathways!

    About Your Teacher

This year will be my 7th year of teaching! I began my career teaching in the Clinton Public School District. Four years ago, I made the move to Madison and taught at Mannsdale Upper Elementary. A year ago, I had the opportunity to join the Madison Crossing family! I began my career teaching ELA - I love a good book! What I love about teaching Pathways is the opportunity to be creative and work on engaging projects with my students! In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our families, taking our dog, Buddy, to the dog park, and spending time with friends.

    About This Class

This year, we will spend time exploring the following topics: Thinking Skills, Creativity, Informational Literacy (researching various topics), Success Skills, Affective Skills (understanding ourselves and our brains), and Communication Skills. We will cover these topics through a variety of hands-on activities and experiences! My teaching philosophy is to learn by doing. This means less worksheets and more fun experiences! I believe that every child is unique and the characteristics that make them unique should be celebrated. We will spend time learning about how the gifted brain works and what it means to be gifted. We will learn about our strengths and weaknesses, as well as how to work well with others who may be different from us. My classroom is a space for creativity and exploration.

    Communication

A newsletter will be sent via Remind for your child's gifted class at the beginning of each month. This is separate from the weekly newsletter they receive from their homeroom teacher. Please be sure to look over this every month so that you are aware of the activities we are doing in class, as well as any supplies that your child may need to bring.

I also use Remind for parents to receive updates, announcements, and additional information about what is going on in class. This will be one of the main forms of communication I use! Please make sure you are signed up to receive messages so that you do not miss any important information. You can sign up by texting @mcepa4 (4th grade) or mcepa5 (5th grade) to 81010.

You can contact me via my email - laura.nash@madison-schools.com. Please be aware that I am only checking my email during school hours from 7:00 am until 3:00 pm. Emails sent on the weekends or after 3:00 pm will not be seen until the following work day.

We are going to have an AMAZING year in Pathways! Go Mavericks!
