I am Sergeant First Class(R) Renthane Smith, the Army Instructor for JROTC. This is my 10th year serving as an Army JROTC Instructor, where I have received the Bronze, Silver and Gold Instructor Award for outstanding performance as an Army Instructor.
I was born and raised in Canton, MS and a graduate of Canton High School. I retired from the United States Army after 23 years of active service as a Field Artillery Cannon Crewmember where I have served in numerous leadership positions in the United States and the World. I have had the opportunity to live in Alaska, Germany, Italy, Hawaii, Boston, Oklahoma, and California just to name a few. I have also deployed several times to Iraq, Afghanistan, Bosnia, Kuwait and Hungary. I also have earned a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from American Inter-Continental University.
Our JROTC mission is to motivate young people to become better citizens through the study of ethics, communications, leadership, life skills and other subjects designed to prepare young men and women to take their place in adult society, evolved as the core of the program.
