    I am Sergeant First Class(R) Renthane Smith, the Army Instructor for JROTC. This is my 10th year serving as a Army JROTC Instructor where I have received the Bronze, Silver and Gold Instructor Award for outstanding performance as an Army Instructor.

    I'm born and raised from Canton, MS and a graduate from Canton High School. I retired from the United States Army after 23 years of active sevice as a Field Artillery Cannon Crewmember where I have served in numereous leadership positions in the United States and World. I had the opportunity to live in Alaska, Germany, Italy, Hawaii, Boston, Oklahoma, and California just to name a few. I have also delployed several times to Iraq, Afghanistan, Bosnia, Kuwait and Hungrary. I also have earned an Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from American Inter-Continental University.

    Our JROTC mission is to motivate young people to become better citizens through the study of ethics, communications, leadership, life skills  and other subjects designed to prepare young men and women to take their place in adult society, evolved as the core of the program.
