Welcome to my webpage! I am returning Maverick and Mississippian! I taught Chemistry for GHS in 2019-2021 under my maiden name- Carmen Shumaker. I fell in love with the students, staff and opportunities at GHS. I am knocking the dust off and excited for the next year! 

My background: 

I graduated from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with a pre-med focus. I then went to Mississippi College to obtain my Masters in Chemistry completing my thesis on computational chemistry. Chemistry is a passion of mine. I love exploring the "why" and "how" behind just about everything. 

About me: 

I am new mother to the most precious baby girl, Emory. My husband, Devin, and I are elated to be parents (and a little tired). I have two fur babies- Xena and Stella who are my besties. My whole family is from Mississippi, but we have traveled quite a bit over this great nation. We are happy to be back in the south but certainly miss our mountains in our previous home of Washington! 

I am so excited to have a fantastic year!
