Robotics is a production-based learning module. The students here at LBE have the opportunity to create something tangible and make it perform the actions that they program it to do. Robotics introduces students to programming and increases creativity in our young children. It also promotes inclusivity and prepares our students for the future.
At robotics competitions, teams of students must design and build a robot that can compete against opponents in a series of specific challenges. Students develop and program their robots in the weeks before the event, adhering to a list of preset rules and regulations.
In the 2021-2022 school year, LBE's 4th and 5th grade robotics teams competed and won 1st and 2nd place, which sent them to the state competition. This allowed the teams to compete with other students throughout the state. Although we didn't make it to the National Competition, the students truly enjoyed themselves and learned from the experience. The robotics club meets after school and is moderated by teachers, Mr. David Parks and Mrs. Angela D. Brown.
