    About me:

My name is Mrs. Julie Henry. My husband, Scott, and I moved to Madison a year ago from Homosassa, Florida. We have been married for 31 years and have 4 grown children, ages 29, 27, 21, and 19. My two oldest children live in Boston, Massachusetts. My oldest daughter lives with us and is taking classes to become a special education teacher while working at Petco. Our youngest daughter is a sophomore at Ole Miss studying Exercise Science.

My undergraduate degree is from Virginia Commonwealth University, and I have a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Northcentral University. My certifications include K-6, Reading, and Special Education. In addition, I have various teaching experiences, including General Education Kindergarten through Fifth Grade and Special Education Kindergarten through Transition. Before coming to MAE, I was the curriculum specialist at a special day school for students with significant disabilities.

This year, we will focus on challenging students to excel through collaboration and hands-on activities. I believe that all children can learn and be successful in classrooms that allow for experimentation and risk-taking. Research shows that experimentation and safe risk-taking are the best ways to foster growth. Additionally, we will focus on developing each student’s communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
