• Hi! Welcome to Ann Smith Elementary!  My name is Miriam Carman, and I am honored to be your Literacy Specialist.  It is going to be a fun year full of lots of learning and new adventures, and I can’t wait to see what the year has in store for us.

I went to Ann Smith Elementary (but it was Ridgeland Elementary way back then,) just like you, and I graduated from Madison Central High School.  I went to college at Mississippi State University…Go Dawgs!  I earned my Masters in Elementary Education from Delta State University.  I have also earned my National Teacher Board Certification in the area of Early Childhood Generalist.   This is my eighth year with the Madison County School District, but it will be my 18th year in education.  During those years, I worked with a variety of students including gifted students, special education students, and English Language Learners in grades K-2nd.

Parents, I look forward to working with you and your child and helping each student reach his or her full potential.  We will have many wonderful experiences and opportunities to learn and grow over the year.  I believe that communication is the key to a great parent-teacher relationship.  I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns at any time.  You can email me at mcarman@madison-schools.com or call me at 601-856-6621. Together we can make this a wonderful and positive year!
