Hi! My name is Jennifer Edwards, and I am excited to be teaching 5th grade ELA this year at Highland Elementary!
My family and I recently relocated to the Madison area after living in Carthage for the majority of our lives. I graduated from Carthage High School in 2006 as an honor graduate. I attended East Central Community College and graduated in 2008. I received my Bachelor's degree from Mississippi State University in 2010. I received my Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Arkanas State University in 2018. I am married to Mitchell Edwards, who works as a traveling nurse. We have two children. Jasper is in 3rd grade at Highland Elementary, and Kenzi is 4 years old and attends 4K at First Ridgeland. We are die hard state fans! Go dawgs!!
I am currently in my eleventh year of teaching. I began teaching in 2010 with the Choctaw Tribal Schools at Red Water Elementary in Carthage, MS. While at Red Water, I taught 7th and 8th grade Language Arts and Social Studies. In 2012, I began teaching for the Leake County School District at Leake Central Junior High. At LCJHS, I taught 6th grade self contained, 7th grade English, and 7th grade Language Arts. In 2015, I made the transition to Leake Central High School and began teaching in the English department. I taught numerous English and History classes over my five years at LCHS. I also served as the yearbook sponsor during my five years and was awarded the Caroline Fair Yearbook Advisor of the Year for 2019.
