  • Welcome to Ms. Glenn's 6th Grade English Language Arts Class!

I am thrilled to join the Olde Towne Middle School family this year! This class is designed to increase our communication skills through reading, writing, speaking, and the study of the English language. Our primary focus in language arts class will be mastering different reading comprehension strategies, developing and strengthening the writing process, and demonstrating the rules of grammar.

This year, we will explore a variety of fiction and nonfiction, including novels, short stories, dramas, poetry, and articles. These pieces will model the different writing styles we will be working on in class. Writing assignments will include timed responses, essays, critiques, and creative pieces. Vocabulary and grammar assignments will also be an important part of this class. Since we are a community of learners, we will work periodically in groups and present information in groups and individually.

The following supplies should be present in class DAILY:

    • Pencil or pen (blue or black ink)
    • 1.5 to 2 inch binder with 5 tab dividers labeled Reading, Writing, Grammar, Vocabulary, Figurative Language
    • Notebook paper
    • Highlighter
