Choral Activities Associate
Tommy Creel has been involved in Mississippi music-making for over 36 years. He is an accomplished keyboardist with expertise in organ and piano. Tommy is the Instrumental Director and Organist at Crossgates Baptist Church in Brandon where he has served for over 26 years. He has served as an adjunct professor at Hinds Community College (Rankin Campus) where he taught Music Appreciation. He has also taught at Pearl High School and Pearl Junior High in their renowned choral music departments. He was the lead accompanist for the Jackson Choral Society for seven seasons and has served as the rehearsal accompanist for the Mississippi Opera Chorus for the last six seasons. He is a free-lance accompanist for public and private school choral programs all across Mississippi and has accompanied the Mississippi All-State High School Honor Choir for 15 years. He has been an adjunct accompanist for voice students at Mississippi College, and he has taught piano, organ and voice (for advanced students and adults) for the Crossgates School of Worship Arts.
Tommy grew up on a farm outside of Prentiss, Mississippi. He came to Mississippi College and earned two degrees, a Bachelor of Music Degree in Church Music/Organ Performance and a Master of Music Degree in Instrumental and Choral Conducting. Tommy has been in full-time gospel ministry for 22 years. He is passionate about the worship of God Almighty, for music education, and for excellence in life.
Tommy is married to the beautiful and talented Gigi Creel. He is father to their super-wonderful seven-year-old son named Asher. Parenting is the hardest but most incredible job Tommy has ever had! Asher is in first grade this year at ParkPlace Christian Academy.
