•                                 Theme: Character Counts
Vision:Building Tomorrow’s Dreams with Today’s Promises by laying a strong developmentally appropriate educational foundation, embracing rigorous academics, integrating the arts, and ensuing that every child meets the end of year grade level expectations.

Welcome to another exciting school year at Madison Avenue K-2 Elementary (MAE).  MAE is a kindergarten through 2nd grade school serving approximately 500 students.  Our theme for this year is“Character Counts.”  Using this theme every child will be challenged to display winning character traits in a learning environment that is Safe, Respectful and Responsible.  All students will receive the right support to help them grow academically, socially and emotionally.

Many wonderful things continue to happen at MAE. The arts are alive and well at Madison Avenue under the direction of our art teacher, Amy Ramsey.  Our new music teacher, Mr. Jerome Hawkins, has added two new performing arts programs, MAE Melodies Choir and a Strings program which are showing lots of success.   Integrating the arts into our curriculum has allowed MAE to have the distinction of continuing to be a Model School for the Arts in the state.  Our students get to see the benefits of learning in and through the arts.  Beautiful student art is displayed all around our building.  Each year our school wins awards for our arts programs. We are also able to participate in various art programs and activities locally and across the state.

Thanks to a grant from Blue Cross/Blue Shield, we have put in a school garden with fresh fruits and vegetables.  Students have the opportunity to see first hand how fruits and vegetables grow from planting to harvesting.

Additional programs offered are a school-wide Running Club, a Robotics Club, a Chess Club, Coding Classes, and integrated technology programs all aimed to increase student learning.

Please visit the school website at www.maejags.org to see many of the wonderful things that are happening at our school.  You can also "Like and follow" us on Facebook.  For anyone interested in joining our school there is helpful school information regarding registration, school supplies, school procedures, and important dates.

We embrace the school year with excitement and anticipation for the wonderful things that are and will occur at MAE!
