Mrs. Kayla Cody

Welcome to 5th grade!

This is my eighth year teaching in the Madison County School District and my second year at MCE! I grew up in Ridgeland and am a product of the Madison County School System. I attended Holmes Community College for two years, the University of Mississippi for four and I just completed my masters degree from Arkansas State University. My husband Chase and I moved to Madison three years ago to be closer to family. We have two dogs, Hazel and Jade.

In my spare time I love to garden, volunteer in the Jackson community, read books and shop for a good deal! My favorite times of year are Fall and Spring. I enjoy playing video games with my husband and hanging out with my family. Teaching science is such a passion of mine because it's fun!! Of all of the great memories I have from my own school years, the ones that stuck with me most involved a science lesson! Another area that I always felt confident in throughout school was writing. It gave me the opportunity to convey my understanding of things in my own unique way as I feel is true for all of my students. This year I am excited to be teaching both of those subjects! The future of the world is in my classroom and I am honored to inspire the love of learning in them!
