    Mrs. Hurst is entering into her ninth year at Old Town Middle School. Prior to serving as assistant principal, Mrs. Hurst taught eighth-grade math and math interventions to sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade students. She has previously served as the mathematics department chair, was a Volunteer Club sponsor and was the cheerleading coach.

    Mrs. Hurst has earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in elementary education with an endorsement in mathematics (7-12), social studies (7-12) and reading (K-12) from Mississippi College. She has a specialist’s degree in educational leadership and is currently pursuing her doctoral degree in educational leadership from Mississippi College. She is also a National Board Certified Teacher.

    Mrs. Hurst has presented at state math conferences held in Oxford, Ellisville and Madison, MS. She has also presented at national math conferences in San Antonio, TX; San Francisco, CA; and Washington, D.C. Mrs. Hurst was named Old Town Middle School Teacher of the Year in 2015, Madison County Middle School Teacher of the Year in 2015, Mississippi Council of Teachers of Mathematics Middle School Teacher of the Year in 2017 and Metro Teacher of the Year in 2018.

    Mrs. Hurst is married to her husband, Matthew, and has twins, Ryan & Riley, due in September 2020.
