meet the parents
Hello, my name is Corey Deer. I teach seventh grade science at Old Town Middle School. I am a member of the Mississippi Science Teacher's Association, National Science Teacher's Association, and the VFW. I was named the Mississippi Science Teacher's Association new teacher of the year for 2016. I am a U.S. Army veteran. I gained combat experience as an infantryman in Iskandariyah, Iraq in 2005. I got my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Mississippi State University and my Master's degree in STEM Education from Mississippi College. I am excited about this upcoming year.
This year is going to be so much different than anything we have ever seen, we are going to try something different this year in class, instead of having the traditional type homework, the students will have reading assignments or powerpoints to watch before class and the traditional homework will be done in class. As they do their reading and watching the powerpoints, they will need to take notes on the material as this will be used to do the classwork. This gives us more leverage and ability to answer questions and do lab type activities.
