Degrees and Certifications:
Delta State University Bachelor of Science: English Education
This will be my first year teaching at Germantown and my eighth year teaching overall.
I grew up in DeSoto County, MS and graduated from DeSoto Central High School in 2006. From there, I went to Delta State University where I received my Bachelor's in English Education. My husband, Jason, and I met at DSU, and we were married in April 2011. I taught English I at Cleveland High School while my husband finished his degree. Then, in the summer of 2012, we both took jobs with The International School of Kabul in Kabul, Afghanistan where I taught Middle School English and Oral Communications and he worked as the Security and Operations Manager (ie: he carried a big gun and kept the bad guys at bay). Sadly, in January of 2015, our school was forced to close because of an imminent security threat, so we packed up our bags (and our Afghan pup Dusty) and moved back to the states. We landed back in DeSoto County, and I took a job at Lewisburg High School. For the past three years, I have taught English II and Accelerated English II as well as worked with the Marching Patriot Drumline at LHS. My time at LHS was wonderful, and I left there a better teacher than I was when I started. My husband graduated from law school in May and took a job here in Jackson, which brought us a few hours south and to a new home.
I feel extremely blessed to have the opportunity to work at Germantown for the coming year(s), and I cannot wait to get started!
