My name is Nechelle Cheeks. I was born and raised in Madison, MS and spent my grade-school career enjoying all that Madison County Schools had to offer. I am not married, nor do I have kids of my own, but with the recent passing of our mother, my twin sister and I are acting as co-parents to our younger siblings Ada (15), Christopher (10), and Raiven (6). Raiven and Christopher both attend school at Madison Crossing in 1st and 5th grades, and Ada is a Sophomore at Germantown High.
I started my educational career at Holmes Community College where I received my Associate of Arts Degree in Elementary Education. I then moved on to further my education at Mississippi State University where I earned my Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Early Childhood. Hail State! After graduating, I was offered an assistant teacher position for a semester in Columbus, MS and a 1st grade teacher position the following year. I taught first grade for 2 years, second grade for 1 year, and third grade for 1 year as well. This summer I finished my online Graduate Program and earned my Masters Degree in Early Childhood Services.
This will be my first year teaching at Madison Crossing. First grade has been my favorite thus far, so I am thrilled to join the Maverick family as a first grade teacher. I am committed to providing a quality education for each child and whole-heartedly believe that consistent communication is a very important part of having a successful year. You may contact me by calling the school office at 601-898-7710, sending a note in your child's take-home folder, or emailing me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Helping children learn and grow has always been a passion of mine, and I take great pride in having these students in my care. I'm looking forward to an AWESOME year! Go Mavs!!
