Dear Parents and students, Welcome to fifth grade. I am Mrs. Shirley Alexander. I will be your science and social studies teacher. I am very excited to have all of you in my class this year. You will be a part of the Trio. I know you will enjoy the Trio we are a great team. You are about to embark on your last year at MAUE, you will be given many new challenges and responsibilities. There are several perks that fifth graders get to enjoy, like eating lunch outside and Science Fun Day.
This year begins my 36 year of teaching. I have taught 1st , 2nd,and 3rd grade. Teaching fifth grade is now my favorite, especially science. I have had the privilege of being chair person for Science Fun Day for about 13 years.
I am a part of my church choir where we travel and sing through out the school year and summer. I love traveling and just being with my family.
I have been married for 34 years to my husband, Drexter. We have four adult children Deidre, Xavier, Alexis ,and Sherl. They all share in my experiences here at MAUE. Like getting my room ready for the next year, or volunteering for Science Fun Day.
I look forward to meeting each and everyone of you. It is going to be a great year!
I hope you are looking forward to having a BLAST in SCIENCE.
