Welcome to the Art Department at Madison Middle School

I’m thrilled to be returning to Madison Middle School for another exciting year! This will be my twelfth year teaching art and my eighth year focusing on Painting, Advanced Art, and Art Foundations II here at MMS. From the moment I started, I knew this school was a special place, and my experience has only reinforced that feeling.

Before joining MMS, I taught Art I, II, III, and IV at Clinton High School and Art I and II at Forest Hill High School. Originally from South Jackson, I’ve called Madison home for seventeen years. My daughter is entering 10th grade at Madison Central, and my son will be in 5th grade at Madison Station. We all proudly embrace being Jaguars!

My journey in art began after high school at Hinds Community College, where I played soccer and took my first art classes. I later transferred to Ole Miss, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Art with a graphic design emphasis and a minor in English. After college, I moved to Orlando and worked as a production manager at a prominent sign company, creating advertising pieces for clients like Universal Studios and B.A.S.S.

However, my passion for fine arts and teaching drew me back to Mississippi, where I enrolled in an intensive teaching program. I find immense joy in painting and hope to inspire the same creativity in my students. My artwork is collected across the U.S. and Central America, and I’ve designed logos and signs for local businesses like Pizza Shack, Madison County Gymnastics, and Sal & Phil's. I also participate in art shows and festivals around the state, showcasing paintings of Mississippi wildlife, marine life, and landscapes. My works are displayed at Saltine, 3 Houses Studio, The Attic Gallery, and Smith Marine, and I was honored as a Jacksonian by the Jackson Free Press in November 2016.

I’m looking forward to a fun and engaging year, getting to know your students and helping them become more visually aware of the world around them!
