Welcome to Kindergarten!
My name is Karla Mitchener. I am thrilled to have your child in my class this year! I hope both of you are ready to learn a lot of new and exciting things. We will be completing many FUN activities together this year!
My family moved to Madison from Starkville during the summer of 2017. I am from Tupelo, and have two older sisters. I went to Mississippi State University (go dawgs). While attending college, I met my husband, Rob. We were married on the beach in 2005. We have two beautiful daughters. Adleigh Claire is twelve and is in 7th grade at Germantown Middle School. Emme Caroline is nine and is in 4th grade Mannsdale Upper. My family has a boxer named Belle (after the cowbell), and a turtle named Owen. Recently, we have added two Betta fish to the family, Marvel and Finley.
This will be my 17th year teaching. I have taught kindergarten for nine years, 1st grade for four years, and 4th grade for three years. I am thrilled to be given the opportunity to teach at Mannsdale Elementary School.
My family enjoys watching Wheel of Fortune and playing board/card games together. We love to go to Mississippi State games on the weekends and spend time in the Junction. My girls are very active in soccer and dance, which keeps us all busy!
I can't wait to begin this adventurous year with your child. We are going to have so much fun together. Snuggle your kindergartener a little more, and get ready for their KINDERGARTEN year!

Adleigh has played soccer since she was 4 years old.
She plays competitive club soccer for Jackson RUSH.
Emme loves ballet, tap and jazz. This will be her fifth year dancing!
She currently dances competitively at Repeat Dance.
The girls and I LOVE spending a week at the Miss Mississippi pageant each summer. Adleigh and Emme have been involved as Magnolia Princesses over the past three years.
Rob took the girls to Starkville Academy's Daddy-Daughter Sock Hop!
We are all BIG MSU Bulldog fans! We especially love having our picture taken with Bully.
Speaking of Mississippi State....this is Belle. She, of course, was named after the famous
noisemaker at MSU.
My former principal found Owen near her pond over 6 years ago. He loves taking trips to my
class to see all of my boys and girls!
