    Welcome Message

Welcome to 5th grade! I would like to express my excitement about working with your child this year. I believe that all students can learn and grow through hard work and effort. Together we can make this an awesome year for your child! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE teaching Language Arts (reading, vocabulary, writing, & English). These happened to be my favorite subjects in elementary school! I love reading aloud to my students each day, whether it be a picture book or from a novel. I remember my favorite teachers growing up, and one thing they had in common was reading aloud. This instilled in me a LOVE for reading, and I hope to do the same for my students.

I invite you to call the school office (601-859-2743) or write a quick note if you ever have a question or a concern. My planning time each day is from 1:45-2:30.

    About the Teacher

Hello! My name is Shannon Oswalt. (The kids call me "Mrs. O." for short!) I graduated from Mississippi University for Women in 1996 with a Bachelor's degree in elementary education. I returned to school a few years later and earned my Masters degree from Mississippi State University in Instructional Technology in 2003. In 2018, I graduated from William Carey University with a Specialists degree in Instructional Leadership. (That's IT! NO doctorate for this girl!) This is my 27th year of teaching with the majority of it here at Luther Branson. I am married with two "big" kids. I have 1 dog, Toby, and one black cat, "Crazy Daisy."  I love reading, going to the beach, "cruising" Facebook, and watching Tik Tok videos; I despise grocery shopping, cleaning the house, cooking dinner every night, and being sweaty.
