Ms. LuCina V. Taylor
I am a seventeen-year veteran of the teaching and coaching professions. I began my career in 2000 at Lumberton High School where I taught seventh grade English and math. I was the head coach for varsity and junior high girls basketball. A wonderful opportunity came about for me to teach at Pascagoula High School, and I taught English I and coached varsity girls basketball and track there from 2001-2006. I was privileged to have athletes compete in the state track meet four of my five years in that position. Two of those years, the state championship in girls shot put belonged to Pascagoula High, as well as silver medals in the 4 X 100 and 4 X 200 meter relays.
I returned to the Pine Belt and became a member of the faculty at Oak Grove Middle School. From 2006-2012, I taught a myriad of subjects such as seventh grade language arts, reading, and journalism, as well as math and language arts tutorial. I served as the newspaper advisor for one year, then transitioned into the yearbook advisor, a position that I held for five years. I also coached both the seventh and eighth grade girls basketball teams. I was honored to be recognized as Oak Grove Middle School's Teacher of the Year in 2012. Shortly thereafter, another wonderful opportunity presented itself, so I became a part of the Petal School District. In April 2015, I was honored as the Pine Belt Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Coach of the Year.
After sixteen years as a teacher and coach, I transitioned into athletic administration in July 2016 and currently have the privilege to serve as the Assistant Director of Athletics here at Ridgeland High School. My first year was a wonderful learning experience and I look forward to another fantastic year. I look forward to working with our athletic director Coach Ryan Earnest, our awesome coaches, our elite student athletes, our Titan staffulty, and the Ridgeland community.
TITANCAST STUDENT MEDIA TEAM
Any student in grades 9-12 who is interested in being a part of TitanCast, please see me by Friday, August 11. TitanCast is in it's second year here at RHS and we are primarily responsible for broadcasting athletic events throughout the school year. In addition to that, we use other forms of technology to highlight the phenomenal skills of our student athletes. We produce the coaches show, hype videos, and many other tasks to help project our athletes, coaches, department, and school. Want to be a part of this wonderful team? See me in the field house for more information. Schedules will have to be adjusted to accommodate the class during sixth block.
