    Welcome to the 2024-25 school year! I am so delighted to be your third grade ELA teacher this year!  We are going to have a great year.

    About the Teacher

    I am Kristy M. Wiley.  This will be my 24th year teaching. Before joining Madison County Schools, I was a teacher in Jackson Public School District, Hinds County School District, and Canton Public School District. This will be my ninth year teaching at Highland Elementary and I absolutely love the students at this school!  I am passionate about education and believe that with a solid education, the sky is the limit for any individual.

    Goals for the 2024-25 School Year
    My goals for this year include improving writing in the classroom, holding more student conferences, facilitating small group instruction, and using data to drive instruction. I also want to incorporate the science of reading. The key components of which includes phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension.
