Welcome to my class! My name is Daniel Cox.

This is my eighth year teaching at Madison Central and my ninth year teaching overall. I graduated from Ole Miss with a B.A. in Political Science and a M. Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction. I thoroughly enjoy teaching history and government. The two subjects are rarely separate. I place a priority on literacy skills in my classes not only for student success at school, but to prepare them to excel as adults whether they attend college or choose a vocation after high school. Your child will be asked to read passages both in class and as homework in an effort to build literacy skills.

Also, because our country's history is frequently viewed through a political lens, we will have constant discussions throughout the year covering political topics. I promise that my personal political views will never be present in the classroom. I am here to foster critical thinking skills and to lead students to draw their own conclusions.
