•                                    Welcome to The Wonderful World of Pre K!

                                                                                                  My Family

It's my joy to welcome you to our Pre-Kindergarten class at East Flora Elementary! My name is DeVaughan M. Smith and I will be your child's Pre-Kindergarten teacher this year!

I am a graduate of Auburn University with a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education. I am currently in school working on my Masters in Reading Literacy at Belhaven University. I am entering into my 16th year in education, have previously taught 7.5 years of Kindergarten, 6 years of Pre-Kindergarten, 1 year of 2nd, .5 of 3rd and now I'm back home in Pre-Kindergarten!

I am the proud mother of 5 children- Mark Anthony, freshman at Jackson State University, Madison Noelle, Junior at Germantown High School, Milton Collins, freshman at Germantown High School, Maximus Carson ,4th grader at Mannsdale Upper and Matthew, 2nd grader at Mannsdale Lower. They are truly the joy and pain of my life...I meant that to be a funny!

We have a lot of fun between football, baseball, volleyball, basketball and soccer games. There’s never a dull moment in my life with them and they are truly my motivation for being the educator that I am today!

In my free time, the little that I have, I enjoy exercising and running/walking long distances. Running/walking on the Natchez Trace Trail is one of my favorite things to do!

Teaching is something that's part of my spirit and I don't take my responsibility lightly. Every day that I wake I am thankful for another chance to teach my students something new, help my biological children obtain the resources that they need to become better students and even teach a new lesson or bible verse to my class at church!

I am so excited about sharing this fleeting school year with you and look forward to forming a bond with you and your child that will create a lifetime of wonderful memories!
