Band 2017-2018Welcome to band 2017-2018. I am excited about starting my second year as the director of bands at Shirley D. Simmons Middle School and Velma Jackson High School! Here you will find information, announcements, and updates about the band class along with the course syllabus, expectations, procedures, etc. 2016-2017 was a successful year, especially for the middle school. Shirley D. Simmons performed at and received excellent ratings at Concert Band Festival this past spring and our high school students held their first spring concert program. This is due to the quality instruction and the students' hard work in my classroom. They made the conscious decision to meet the expectations and succeed. So, we will be structuring and building our program upon the foundations that have been laid down for us in the previous year. This page will be primarily used for updates related to the band classroom such as assignments, upcoming playing tests, agendas, etc. For updates related to the band organization such as performance schedules, rehearsals, and other events/anonuncements, visit the Velma Jackson Band page here.
