About the Teacher
My name is Greg Pigott and this is my tenth year at Velma Jackson. I previously taught at Jim Hill High School and Raymond High School. I am a graduate of Madison Central High School, the University of Southern Mississippi, and Louisiana State University. I am a diehard fan of the New Orleans Saints, Chicago Cubs, Atlanta Hawks, St. Louis Blues, and Liverpool FC. I am also a freelance writer that has had articles that appear in Jackson Free Press, BOOM Jackson Magazine, and Clarksville Family Magazine. I also am a basketball official for MHSAA and a NCAA Women's Basketball.
I have a very diverse business background that includes eleven years in the restaurant industry, seven years in higher education campus recreation, and corporate cellular phone sales. This background helps me relate business ideas to students and make the content relevant rather than just "words on the page". The goal of my class is to be as diverse as possible for all students while making sure that all students are able to grasp the concepts of business education. After completing any of the classes we offer, the student should be more prepared for the business world and work towards beginning the development of career skills. Please feel free to click the links on the right for helpful links for all classes.
Our class was recently featured on WJTV's "Cool Schools" segment where our guest speakers from across the country were featured.
Our class was also featured in Mississippi Free Press where the speakers were also featured.
I have the unbelievable privilege to head up the Entrepreneurship program which partners with the Mississippi Council on Economic Education to be a part of the Southern Entrepreneurship Program. This program and class will encourage students to own and operate their own businesses now and in the future.
In addition to my teaching duties, I have the privilege of sponsoring the Technology Student Association.
I am proud to be a FALCON!
