• Welcome to Mrs. Lewis' Class!

    The Lewis Family

I am Mrs. Franchesca Lewis, a native of Jackson, MS. I attended Jackson State University where I obtained a Bachelor of Science in Physics and Master of Science in Teaching. This is currently my tenth year in Education. I am a devoted wife and mother of a beautiful girl. I will be your instructor for Physics 1, and Physical Science for the 2018-2019 school year. I look forward to a classroom of learning and exploring together! Feel free to email me if you have any questions!

     Physics 1

This course is a standards-based study of fundamental physics concepts, such as measurement, calculation, and graphing in kinematics and dynamics, propagation and conservation of energy and momentum, gravitation and orbital mechanics, heat and thermodynamics, waves, optics, electromagnetic phenomena, and relativity and quantum physics. Emphasis is placed on the utilization of mathematical, analytical, data acquisition, graphical, and communication skills as well as interdisciplinary approaches to discovery. Concepts and skills are reinforced by a strong emphasis on hands-on laboratory experiences and the integration of other branches of science. Applications to society, individuals, and the utilization of technology are included.

     Physical Science

This year students will explore the fascinating world of Physical Science, which is the study of matter and energy.  Physical Science is a combination of two branches of science---Chemistry and Physics.  Chemistry is the study of the properties, composition, structure, and interactions of matter.  Physics is the study of the relationship between matter and energy.
