My name is Bethany Berry and this is my eleventh year as the Library Media Specialist at Madison Avenue Upper Elementary. I taught 4th grade at Madison Avenue Upper Elementary for 6 years. I also taught 4th grade at Bogue Chitto School for 2 years. I was a Literacy Specialist for Madison County Schools for a year. The library is a place where I can combine my favorite things- kids, books, and organization. I have such a fun job and I look forward to coming to work in such a great place each day. I am married to "D" Berry and we have two daughters, Bella Berry and Baylor Berry. Bella is 13 and in 8th Grade at Madison Middle School. Baylor is 8 years old and in 3rd grade at Madison Avenue Elementary.
The Madison Avenue Upper Elementary library system is monitored using an automated search system with a catalog feature to search for needed materials. Our library card catalog and circulation system is automated through Follett Destiny software. State-of-the-art search stations for student use are distributed throughout the library for research and internet usage. There are 7 search stations dedicated to student and staff use in our media center. We also are a 1 to 1 school offering every teacher and student a computer device to use throughout the year. Our mission is to promote an interest in reading of all kinds and to provide a climate supporting research and literary appreciation. Students visit the library at least once a week to check out a book and participate in a reading lesson.
