I am very excited about the new school year. This will be my fifteenth year to teach. Prior to coming to Madison County, I taught for two years in Water Valley, MS. I want you to feel comfortable with me as your child’s teacher and always come to me with any questions or concerns you may have. So to open up the lines of communication, here are a few things about me. I was born and raised in Meridian, MS and graduated high school from West Lauderdale High School in 1999. I, then, received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education with concentration in Math (K-12) and Social Studies (K-12) from Mississippi State University as well as my master's degree in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University. I went on to marry my high school sweetheart who graduated from Millsaps College and then the University of Mississippi School of Law.

My goal as your child’s teacher will be to provide the best education both academically and socially. I can assure you that your child and I will work together throughout the year to become thoroughly prepared for other grades and life itself. I love my job and will work hard to prove that to you.

I am looking forward to having your child in my classroom. I believe that communication between you and I can greatly impact the learning of your child. It is very important for your child to know that we are working together.  If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to email me at or call me at the school. I am excited and anticipating a GREAT YEAR!

Message about the Classroom

Students will be enrolled in their regular grade level math course as well as Learning Strategies. Students will attend the first half of the Learning Strategies block (45 minutes) in either math or ELA (with Mrs. Dedmon) and then switch the second half of the block (45 minutes) to the other class (either math or ELA). In Learning Strategies, we will provide the extra help they need in either math or ELA. We will also help students organize their binders for their classes, set up and use their planners to record homework assignments daily, sign up for Remind101 in each class, encourage students to actively check their teacher websites, and help students actively check their grades. Every other week, we will check the students book bags to make sure they are neat (and not just throwing papers in them), checking their binders to make sure they are neat and organized, checking planners to make sure they are writing down their homework assignments, and having them log in to active student to check their grades and help develop a plan to bring up low averages. However, the majority of time spent in class will focus on math interventions. Students will take a pre-assessment at the beginning of the year. This test will identify skills each student struggles with. We will spend class time filling in those gaps, so that they are ready to learn grade level skills. Students will also practice skills they are currently covering in their regular math class. Students WILL NOT have homework or tests in this class. I will have them take mini-assessments; however, these will simply be used for me to monitor their progress and identify if the gap has been filled. Although students do not have homework, you are welcome to see what we are doing/ covering in class each day. Click on the correct grade level tab of your child to view the agenda for each day.
