    Welcome!  Welcome!

Hi! Welcome to Madison Avenue Elementary!  My name is Miriam Carman, and I am honored to be your child’s Kindergarten teacher.  It is going to be a fun year full of lots of learning and new adventures, and I can’t wait to see what the year has in store for us.

I went to Madison Avenue Elementary, just like you, and I graduated from Madison Central High School.  I went to college at Mississippi State University…Go Dawgs!  I earned my Masters in Elementary Education from Delta State University.  I have also earned my National Teacher Board Certification in the area of Early Childhood Generalist.   This is my fourth year at Madison Avenue, but I taught Kindergarten for 10 years at my previous school.  During those years, I worked with a variety of students including gifted students, special education students, and English Language Learners.

I have been married to a wonderful man, Kendall, for almost 11 years now.  We have the two most adorable girls you could ever meet!  My oldest daughter Mallory is 7 and she always keeps me laughing!  My youngest daughter, Reagan, is 6 and is a Momma’s girl for sure.  I hope you enjoy the pictures of my family.  I can’t wait to get to know you and learn all about your family!

Parents, I look forward to working with you and your child and helping each student reach his or her full potential.  We will have many wonderful experiences and opportunities to learn and grow over the year.  I believe that communication is the key to a great parent-teacher relationship.  I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns at any time.  You can email me at mcarman@madison-schools.com or call me at 601-856-2951.  I will also be sending out a weekly newsletter to update you on what we have been doing in class as well as things that are up coming.  Together we can make this a wonderful and positive year!

I can’t wait to spend the year learning and growing with you!
