Welcome to First Grade at Madison Crossing!  I am looking forward to a  fantastic year of learning ahead!  Madison Crossing is an awesome place for kids to be, and I am so happy to begin my fifth year of teaching first grade as a part of this wonderful community!  I live in Madison with my husband, 3 dogs, and 2 cats.  My daughter, Mallorie, is beginning her junior year at Mississippi State.  I have a son, Colin, who graduated from Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas, with a degree in criminal justice. He lives and works in Fort Worth.  I have another son, Mitchell, who graduated from Texas A & M and has a career in digital marketing in San Francisco.

My passion is teaching young children to love reading and learning.  I have taught school for 28 years now, and every year is a new adventure.  I started my teaching career in Jackson Public Schools, after earning my degree in education from Mississippi State University.  During my time in Jackson, I taught first grade and kindergarten while I worked on my Master's degree at Mississippi College. I completed my degree just before moving to Texas for my husband's job.  My career picked right back up as I began a twenty-year tenure in Texas public schools.  In addition to first grade and kindergarten, I taught third grade and served as a Reading Specialist. I am thrilled to be back home in Mississippi and even more excited to be back in first grade--my favorite age of all!

My desire for your child is that he or she will love learning, become confident in his or her ability to succeed in school, learn to work well with others, and feel that Madison Crossing is a great place to come every day.  I am so happy to have your child in my class this year and to have a small part in each child's journey of learning!
