    Two Disciplines, One Great Academy!

Mission: To prepare students that are interested in pursuing any engineering, medical, or other STEM related career for the rigorous curriculum at a 2 or 4 year college and provide authentic workforce training.

Overview:  Our academy uses the nationally recognized Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Curriculum for both engineering and biomedical science. All courses have accelerated or AP weight on their grades and incorporate project-based learning.

  • PLTW Engineering Logo

PLTW Engineering students adopt a problem-solving mindset, are engaged in compelling, real-world challenges that help them become better collaborators and thinkers, and are prepared with skills to step into any career path they take. Each PLTW Engineering course engages students in interdisciplinary activities like working with a client to design a home, programming electronic devices or robotic arms, or exploring algae as a biofuel source. These activities not only build knowledge and skills in engineering, but also empower students to develop essential skills such as problem-solving, critical and creative thinking, communication, collaboration, and perseverance.

  • PLTW Capstone - All students in the academy come together in their senior year to engage in the capstone course.  Students engage in an open-ended research experience in the PLTW Capstone course, a culminating program for those completing PLTW's high school offerings. They collaborate in teams, designing and developing original solutions to well-defined and justified real-world problems.

Internships - Students enrolled in the Capstone course are also eligible to participate in an internship related to their desired career field.  Students participate in 70 hours of real-world career experience with local engineering, computer science, and biological firms.
