• Dear Parents and Students,

I'm so excited to be your 8th grade Language Arts teacher for the 2023-2024 school year.  This is my 31st year in education.  Twenty-three of those years were spent as a classroom teacher, and seven years were spent as an assistant principal.  This is my 11th year to be at MMS as an ELA teacher.

I am a graduate of Mississippi College, where I earned my B.S.Ed and M.Ed in Education(NBPTS was somewhere in between).  In 2004, I earned an Ed.S in Educational Leadership from Mississippi College. In November 2010 and again in December 2021, I recertified with the National Board for Professional Standards; in December 2015, I completed my Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Mississippi College. I love to learn and push myself to be the best for my students and want my students to set high expectations for themselves as well.

Although reared in the city, I'm now a "country girl" with Easter Egger (ლ ')> s, three [' ᴥ' ]ies, & a quarter-dozen =^.^=ies  (all rescues except for the chicks).  Other than teaching, I enjoy reading, listening to music(K-Love, 2Cellos, & Adam Ben Ezra are THE BEST!!!), biking(when my husband forces me to), and spending time with my family(family movies are our favorites). Our family vacations usually include white water rafting or spelunking. Some of my weaknesses are chi tea lattes and dark chocolate. I've been married 36 years and have three daughters, aged 29, 24, and 20.

This year will be exciting and jam packed with new learning experiences for you AND me!!!  I'm thrilled I'll be with you to enjoy them and look forward to learning from you as well.  Please don't hesitate to email or call me with any questions, and I'll respond to your email or phone call the minute I can. Assignments are updated on Canvas regularly, so please check often. Also, please join my class Remind.
