About the TeacherBorn and raised in Holmes County, I was the 1998 valedictorian of S.V. Marshall High School. I originally attended Mississippi State University, but transferred my junior year to Mississippi College. There I completed my degree in 2004 (B.S. Biological Science). I also have acquired additional science master's level studies from Jackson State University (Microbiology 2004-2006) and am a 2011 graduate of the University of Phoenix (M.A.T. /Secondary Education). This will be my 7th year teaching at GHS & 3rd year serving as Science Department Chair.I am very proud to have received the Germantown Key of Excellence in Math & Science award for the 2014-2015 School Year, STAR Teacher award for 2016-2017, GHS Teacher of the Year 2017-2018, and I am currently a State Finalist for the Presidential Award of Excellence in Math & Science Teaching; 2018-2019 cycle! I am also certified through College Board in advance placement biology and advance placement chemistry & Flinn Scientific in Laboratory Safety.
Not-So-Interesting Facts About Me:I have one Maverick alumnus, Daryn ~ Class of 2016, two current Mavericks: Kalyb ~ Class of 2024, and Kalynn ~ Class of 2029, a furbaby in heaven, Chip (RIP) and a new furbaby Harmony Rose!I am 6 feet tall, but cannot play basketball. My favorite color is purple, favorite scent is lavender, favorite fruit is grapes, and favorite drink is cranGRAPE juice. I literally LOVE anything Purple. My favorite snack is honey roasted cashews, favorite animal is the butterfly, and my favorite restaurant is Waffle House. I am a huge football fan & attend most, if not all, GHS home games. My college teams are MSU and LSU (except for when they play MS State). My pro picks are the Seattle Seahawks and the Carolina Panthers.
