• My role as the school's Literacy Specialist is two-fold.  I work with students, teachers, and parents to close academic gaps.  I also work diligently with administrators and teachers to evaluate our instructional practices.  We use data from our academic and behavior screeners as well as state test scores to ensure we are providing quality instruction for ALL students.  Please contact me if you have concerns or questions regarding your child's academic success or the school district's literacy initiative.

I graduated from The University of North Alabama with a Bachelor's degree in elementary education and began my teaching career in 1999 where I taught first grade in Alcorn County School District.  In 2003, I obtained a Master's degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of Mississippi.

In Alcorn County, I also taught language arts in sixth and eighth grades.  I began teaching in Madison County Schools in 2005 at Madison Middle School where I taught sixth grade language arts and social studies.  When Mannsdale Elementary opened in 2009, I transferred and taught fourth grade math, science, and social studies.  While teaching at Mannsdale, I obtained National Board certification.

When I'm not involved in school activities, I love spending time with my family.  My husband, Derrick and I have been married since 2005, and we have one daughter, McClain, who keeps our lives busy and interesting.

    Go Mavs!!
