Welcome to Kindergarten! This is an exciting year full of learning and exploring. Thank you for sharing your precious child with me. This year your child will learn to read, write, add, subtract and so much more. I hope to instill in your child a love of learning that will last throughout his/her lifetime. I would ask that you partner with me to ensure that your child's year is the best that it can be.
Here are some ways that you can help:
Celebrate your child's successes, no matter how small they may seem. This will keep your child enthusiastic and proud of his/her work.
Check the homework folder daily for notes as well as homework. I will send homework every night except Friday.
Completed classwork and tests will be sent home weekly. Please sign all papers and return.
Read with your child each day. I will begin sending "just right" readers home in October. Your child will also check out library books weekly.
Be sure your child gets plenty of rest each night.
School uniforms must be worn Monday- Thursday. Please do not let your child wear flip flops or high heels to school. Our classroom gets chilly sometimes. Send a light jacket or sweater labeled with your child's name and a towel or small blanket for rest time.
About the Teacher
I have taught school for thirty years. My husband and I live right here in north Madison County. We have four children, two grandchildren, a dog - that thinks she is our child, and two cats that want to rule everyone. I love reading, traveling with my family, and entertaining friends and family. I love my job! I feel blessed to come to school everyday and watch each child grow!
