Welcome to First Grade!!!!
My name is Allison Ruhl, and I am thrilled to be part of the Madison Station family this year. This will be my 13th year of teaching, and I love what I do. This will be my sixth year at Madison Station and my ninth year in the district. I have loved all that Madison County does for our schools and our students. My undergraduate degree is a double major in Art History and Studio Art from Duke University, and I have a master's degree in Elementary Education from Mississippi College. I am currently enrolled in the Educational Specialist program in Educational Leadership at William Carey University. In 2014, I was honored to be named Madison Station's "Teacher of the Year." In 2016, I was recognized as one of the twelve Metro Area Teachers of the Year. in 2017, I got the surprise of my life when I was recognized as a Milken Educator by the Lowell Milken Foundation. I work at an amazing school with awesome coworkers, and it was an honor to even be considered.
Outside of school, I have three daughters: Ainsley--an 8th grader, Ella--a 7th grader, and Reese-- a 4th grader. We have two dogs named Peanut and Charlie. I love to read, run, sew, ride my bike, and hang out with my family. This summer my family and I traveled all over Michigan which was amazing. I also took my girls to the beach several times. I can't wait to hear all about your favorite places this year.
Megan Lyon is going to be working with me this year, and I'm so excited. This will be Megan's second year at Madison Station as a full time faculty member, and she is a wonderful. Megan and her husband have two children at MSE this year. Allie Hart is a 1st grader, and Gray is a 3rd grader.
This is going to be a fantastic year, and we can't wait to get to know our precious students and families. We're going to work hard. We're going to learn a ton, and we're going to try to have some fun doing it. Our goal is to keep this page as up to date as possible. We'll have our weekly newsletter here as well as homework information. We can't wait to begin.
