This is my 21st year with the Madison County School District. This will be my 12th year in the Jag Zone. I am looking forward to another great year.

 

I graduated from Mississippi College in 2003 with a degree in Art Education. I completed my Masters in Art Education from Mississippi College in 2010. I teach Art I, Art II, Drawing I, Drawing II, Sports Marketing, and Sports Marketing II. I also coordinate production of all live sports broadcasts as well as the video board. 

  

Art I is a lecture based courses focusing the elements of Art and developing techniques and information needed to progress to studio courses. 

 

Art II is a lecture based courses focusing on principles of Art and developing techniques and information needed to progress to studio courses.

 

Drawing I will focus on Value, Proportion, and Perspective. We will use multiple types of drawing tools and materials. 

 

Drawing II will focus on Landscapes, Portraits, and Figurative drawing.

 

Each course is 1 semester. I believe in technique before creativity. To be able to express yourself, you should first know how to correctly and efficiently manipulate the medium in which you are working. I also believe in realism before abstraction. You should first know how to create what you see realistically before abstracting what you see. A lack of technique in realism is not an acceptable excuse for abstraction.

 

Sports Marketing 1 and 2 will focus on learning skills to promote student athletes and athletic programs through the use of a variety of mediums and platforms. There will be many elements of graphic design, photography, and videography used in these courses to prepare students for both the collegiate and professional world of sports marketing.
