New members are selected in the Spring of each school year. Students who meet the following criteria will be invited to apply based on overall GPA:
a) Candidates eligible for selection to this chapter must be members of the sophomore, junior, or senior class.
b) To be eligible for selection to membership in this chapter, the candidate must have been enrolled for a period equivalent to one semester at Germantown High School. Excluding transfer students who are currently members of the National Honor Society and are in good standing with their former school’s chapter.
c) Candidates eligible for election to the chapter shall have an overall average of 93.00% weighted, based on a minimum of five academic credits/units. Members must maintain this average each semester throughout their membership or be placed on probation.
d) Upon meeting the grade level, enrollment, and GPA standards, candidates shall then apply to be considered based on their service, leadership, and character.
Submitting an application does not guarantee selection for membership.
Tips for students not selected in previous years:
If you are eligible, APPLY AGAIN. Increase your community and school involvement through service (giving of yourself without anything in return). Seek out leadership positions. Be a leader in the classroom. Make sure to fill out your application COMPLETELY. List all organizations, list leadership positions, list hours involved, explain what the organization does if it is community organization.
