I have created a "Clever" page that can be accessed with your child's individual QR code. My distance learning lesson plans, videos and enrichment activities can all be found on Clever. Hop on over and check it out! Don't forget to follow Mannsdale Elementary Library on FB for updates. I love you all and I hope you are staying healthy.Follow Mannsdale Elementary Library on Facebook to see our "Book of the Day"and to get a peek in the day-to-day happenings of our media center! It is a great day to be a Maverick...especially at Mannsdale!"The more you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go!"Dr. SeussWelcome to the Mannsdale Media Center's webpage! The Mannsdale library collection currently hosts approximately 12,000 books, DVDs, audiotapes and more. Our library system is monitored using an automated search system with a catalog feature to search for needed materials. The Mannsdale card catalog and circulation system is automated through Follett Destiny software. State-of-the-art search stations for student use are distributed throughout the library for research and internet usage. There are 5 search stations dedicated to student and staff use in our media center. The media center is equipped with a classroom set of iPads for student use. Our mission is to promote an interest in reading of all kinds and to provide a climate supporting research and literary appreciation. We have an Apple TV and a Promethean board in our library in order to expose our students to the latest technology during their library visit. Students visit the library at least once a week to check out a book, participate in a reading lesson and participate in an active read-aloud. This active read aloud time includes puppet shows, drama or a visual arts lesson. The Mannsdale library is a "kid-friendly" place decorated with children's artwork in an effort to provide a haven where students can develop a love of reading. We have also incorporated a new MakerSpace into our library. The MakerSpace is full of materials like legos, magnetic tiles, marbles, clay and other supplies that inspire creativity. We want students to build, explore and imagine. We also have a play store to help students with budgeting and counting money. This new addition provides hands-on, creative ways for our students to design, experiment and invent as they engage in science, engineering, and tinkering! My name is Robin North and this is my 11th year to be the media specialist at Mannsdale. I taught 4th and 5th grade at Madison Station for 15 years and have been thrilled with this next chapter in my career. The library is a place where I can combine my favorite things- kids, books and art. I have such a fun job and I look forward to coming to work at such a great school each day. I am married to John Sidney North and I have an eighth grader at Madison Middle, John Riley. He keeps me busy! I have tried to make the Mannsdale Media Center a place that is bright, cheerful, inviting and welcoming. I hope it is a place that fosters a love of reading and creates a safe haven for our young Mavericks to feel safe, appreciated and loved.
