Welcome to Chemistry and Biology 2018-2019!! I look forward to an exciting year teaching your child. The Chemistry I course will provide opportunities for students to develop and communicate an understanding of structure, physical and chemical properties and chemical change. Concepts covered in this course include properties of matter, measurement and use of the International System of Measurement #SI# applied to mathematical operations, atomic theory, bonding, periodicity, nomenclature, equations and reactions, the mole and stoichiometry, thermochemistry, gas laws and kinetic molecular theory, solutions, equilibrium, acids and bases, and oxidation and reduction
About the teacher
I graduated from Xavier University of La in 1995 with a B.S. in Biology Pre-Med and a minor in Chemistry. I received my masters degree in biology from Jackson State University in 1998. I have 30 hours toward my Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts before relocating back to Mississippi. I have been teaching since 2003. I am currently the 9th grade boys head coach and the varsity assistant coach. I am also an assistant football coach (Running backs). Teaching in Madison County has been a wonderful experience (11th year). I live in the Brandon area with my wife Rasheda. I have two sons, Deonte who graduated from Ridgeland High and Terron who will be a freshman at Ridgeland High. I also have a daughter, Kayla, who attends Highland Elementary.
