    Welcome to First Grade!

As your child's first grade teacher, I would like to welcome you and your child to the wonderful world of first grade! I am so excited to have your child in my class this year!
I would like to tell you a little about myself.  I graduated with a degree in elementary education from Mississippi College.  This is my twelfth year teaching first grade at ASE, and I taught for one year in Jackson Public Schools.  I was named teacher of the year for the 2012-2013 school year, and I also became a Nationally Board Certified Teacher in 2012.  I have lived in Madison County for the last sixteen years with my husband Ryan.  We have a six year old son named Eli, and a three year old son named Evan.  In my spare time I enjoy reading, cooking, gardening, and spending time with my family.  Now that's enough about me...let's get back to the children.
I believe that all children can learn.  As an educator, it is my responsibility to teach children in ways that they will be successful.  I will provide a learning environment that is not only safe and positive, but also one that promotes self-esteem.  My lessons and teaching styles take into account the differences among learners and their unique learning styles.  My class list includes the best children at ASE and I will expect the best from them!  It is my goal to instill a love of learning that will last throughout your child's life.
I am here for you and your child, and I will welcome any questions or concerns you may have.  By working together, I know that we will have a successful year!
